WYSIWYG was the acronym for an editor that designers of software used to build a user interface. It was supposed to simplify user interface design, and remove the gap between what the developer built and what the user saw. What you see is what you get.
That’s fine for user interface design. But in real life, it is a bit different. You see what you desire. So you need to be careful about what you want to see.
Part of the reason is you may get it. In which case, it will lead to desire for more of the same.
Or you may not get it. In which case, it will lead to anger and frustration.
In either case, you must be careful about what you desire. Not just because the desire may come true or not come true. In both cases, your misery is guaranteed.
But also because in the urge to fulfil that desire, you will spend a lot of your mental and physical energy and actions, irrespective of what comes out of that desire.
Watch what you desire. Lest you start feeling like you want to see it. Because what you see is what you get. WYSIWYG.
