A Few Stray Thoughts…. (all my own work)

behram_0423And for a Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observations and a few points of view (all my own work):

Like the Congress seems to be happy about winning the Karnataka elections, but I am unable to decide whether they won or the opposition lost.

Like removing two more or less politically irrelevant ministers does not suddenly make the Congress intolerant of corruption.

Like it is a bit like hitting a century in the last session of a test match when you need 300 runs to win. You may save the test, but you still don’t win, neither does the opposition. The test ends in a draw.

Like I don’t know why everyone is surprised when the Supreme Court calls the CBI a parrot of the government. As if anyone really believed that it was truly independent.

Like a Pakistani convict Sanaullah dying in an Indian prison attack and being called a martyr is not any better or worse than an Indian convict Sarbajit dying in a Pakistani prison attack and being called a martyr. I don’t think the tit for tat will ever end, and I am not hopeful that the two sides will grow up.

Like while India and Pakistan fight over prisoners in jails, no one seems to have noticed the Chinese soldiers coming 19 kms into Indian territory. I hope they were here only for some sightseeing.

Like the Sensex at 20000 in 2013 is a lot different from the Sensex at 20000 in 2010 and the Sensex at 20000 in 2007. Celebrations are nowhere and scepticism abounds – which is good.

Like I am unable to decide what is worse, Virat Kohli getting angry, or Virat Kohli getting out on 99 and getting angry. Either way, the angry young man does not look good when angry.

Like the BCCI in ICC seems to be a bit like the United States in the United Nations – the elephant in the room. I am unable to decide whether the fault lies with the elephant, the room or others in the room. When money talks, everyone listens.

Like when everyone (including me) says IPL is not real cricket, yet I don’t understand why I find myself watching IPL matches in the evening.

Like everyone seems to have forgotten about Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement. It seems like the critics calling for his retirement have also retired.

And this final point of view: For those who lived in Mumbai in the 80’s and 90’s, read ‘The Afternoon’ and find this style familiar, this post is neither a copy nor an imitation, but a tribute. Thank you, Busybee.

As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.
